Blue Swallow Motel ΓÇó The Blue Swallow, completed in 1942, is one of the best surviving examples of the classic pre-war motor court design where each sleeping unit featured it's own garage. Blue neon swallows flock around the facade of the motel structure and flutter atop the large neon sign that promises "100% Refrigerated Air."
Owner Lillian Redman, a living Route 66 legend, has run the Blue Swallow since she accepted it as an engagement present in 1958. Brought to New Mexico in 1916 in a covered wagon by her parents, Mrs. Redman has lived on or near Route 66 for most of her life. Her motel offers a safe and restful haven for legions of Route 66 travelers passing through town. Make sure you stop by and say "hi" to Lillian, even if you are not spending the night in town. 815 E.
